01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Passing through the noren curtain at the entrance reveals an extensive spread of dishes posted across the walls and menu. Located in Tateishi, Katsushika Ward, Miyoshiya (三好弥) is a traditional teishoku diner where guests can tuck into hearty, satisfying meals in an unpretentious neighborhood atmosphere. With a lineup spanning set meals, rice bowls, noodles, and sizzling teppan dishes, browsing the menu to match your mood is part of the pleasure.
For a hearty lunch, reliable choices include katsu curry pairing a freshly fried cutlet with spicy roux, or the classic shogayaki (ginger pork) set meal. Served on a single plate alongside salad, the katsu curry delivers an appetizing, nostalgic appeal. The options showcase classic diner staples that make it hard to choose, from savory hot-plate offerings like teppan yakiniku and teppan shogayaki to deep-fried horse mackerel set meals and katsudon.
The appeal lies in enjoying relaxed, everyday meals, even in the pleasant pause while waiting for a freshly prepared tray to arrive. Come evening, it easily doubles as a casual drinking spot, pairing bottled beer or ocha-hai with small plates such as pork kimchi, kushikatsu skewers, and stir-fried vegetables. Whether for an unhurried midday meal or a hearty dinner on the way home from work, it is a dependable neighborhood stop that welcomes diners without ceremony.
